Weekly Update May 8 - May 12

Upcoming Schedule

Today we started our state testing. Everyone got off to a good start. Just a reminder to make sure that the students get a good nights rest and a balanced breakfast. We will be testing all week long. To compensate for the rigor of testing, homework will be lighter this week.

We will be celebrating May and June birthdays this month on May 26th. I will be ordering pizza for the class. If you are able to provide drinks and snacks that would be great.

Don't forget Open House and our Tiny Home Ribbon cutting Celebration will be May 18.

May 19 is our Field trip to CuriOdyssey in San Mateo, please send permission slips back to school by Friday, May 12th.

Research project - Students have made great progress on their research, we will be starting our rough drafts next week, a majority of written work will be done in class but some will be assigned as homework as well. To compensate for this there will not be any additional vocabulary given for homework.

Mother Day Tea - Mothers if you are able to join us in the morning of May 15 - We would like to have a Mother day Tea (act surprised when you receive your invitation, supposed to be a surprise, however I know your work needs to be informed ahead of time.) More details to follow.

Yearbooks: If you are interested in ordering yearbooks now is the time! Order online, (school #19304), http://yearbookordercenter.com/

Box Tops - Please support our class in collecting Box Tops this school year.

Homework: I have students copy the daily homework into their daily planner and I sign it everyday to indicate they have acknowledged what they need to complete. Please check their planners nightly and sign above my signature to indicate to me that you have also checked their work. If the homework is not turned in or is incomplete I will send home Pink slips. If you do receive one please sign and return it back to me. Returning the pink slips is the students responsibility.

Parent Volunteers: If you would like to become a parent volunteer for Room 29 please go to the office for the TB and Finger print paper work. I encourage parents to participate in their child's learning either in school, at home, and on field trips. IF you have already filled out all the paper work and are cleared, please email me your availability to help out with class projects, coping, and field trips. Please specify the activities you are able to participate in.

Library: The library is open.  Our Library time is on Friday's, please have students return all books. Thank you.

Birthdays: As a class policy I like to celebrate all birthdays at the end of each month. Please bring healthy snacks at the end of the day or with your child so they may hand out snack for the first recess. Please sign in at the office if you are arriving at the end of the day around 30 minutes before school is out.

PE: Our P.E. schedule will be Tuesday and Thursday from 8 to 8:45. Please make sure students wear closed-toe shoes on these days.
