HISTORY OF SINNOTT SCHOOL

Who was John Sinnott?

John Sinnott Elementary School is named after John Sinnott. Mr. Sinnott was an early pioneer. He came to North America from Wexford, Ireland, in 1831. In 1851 he brought his family to California, becoming one of the leading farmers in the Santa Clara valley with over 1,000 acres of land.

When John Sinnott School was built, the District Staff submitted two or three names with historical significance to the Citizens Building Committee. The committee decided to name our school after John Sinnott.
